Hans and Katrine raised their children on Vikra Farm, Skudenes Parish, where Hans had grown up. 1 They had seven children. Our ancestor Marte was their third child, born in 1767.
Hans and Katrine continued to live on Vikra Farm until their deaths. I have not yet ascertained where they are buried. No church on Karmoy dates back to their time except the medieval Avaldsnes Kirke. Were they buried at Avaldsnes? Or are the present-day congregations older than their structures? Besides Avaldsnes, the oldest standing church on the island is Old Åkra Church, dated to 1821. There are also conflicting reports of the time of Hans’s death. Some sources say 1770, others say after 1801 — maybe somebody saw him in the 1801 census.
