Ole married 3 times (twice widowed) and had 15 – 18 children! His first wife was Lisbeth Knudsdatter (1755 – 1804, m. c. 1788). Our distant cousin Odd descends from Ole and Lisbeth. Ole and Lisbeth lived on the Sorhaug Farm of Haugesund Parish, where Ole bought a few acres of land when he was young. He lived there for the rest of his life.
“It seems that Ole had gotten a lot of money with Lisbeth.” 1 Ole bought the Fagerland Farm on Karmoy Island, though he never lived there. Two sons from his first marriage, Lars and Ole Olsen, occupied and managed the farm.
We descend from Ole’s second wife, Barbro. They were married from 1804 until Barbro’s death in 1822. She had ten children in those two decades, when she was 29 – 46 years old! Is it any wonder the last birth killed her?! 1
Ole’s third wife was Senneva Monsdatter (1792 – 1869, m. 11/14/1826). They had two children together, and Ole named the first one Barbro.
I don’t know where Ole and Barbro would have been buried. The parish boundaries have changed a few times, and the churches in the area post-date them. Ole was baptized at the Avaldsnes Kirke, so there is a possibility this might have been his church throughout life and death.
