Hans and Ymbjorg lived, died, and are buried in Vågå Parish.
Ymbjorg’s date of birth is not ascertained for sure, but this is a promising clue:
“On the 1801 census there is a Imbjør Jakobsdatter on Sandboe farm, age 19 [1782], in the Jakob Danielsen household. She is listed as being a servant.” 1 Our Ymbjorg’s father was Jacob Pedersen, not Jakob Danielsen.
Hans and Ymbjorg were married 10/19/1813, and then raised their children in the Sandbugarden / Teigen / Skårvangen area, northwest of the church. Else was their second or third child, born in 1821. At least one of their children did not survive infancy. Ymbjorg died on Teigen Farm, and Hans on Hågenstadeie (the -eie suffix indicates that he was a renter, not an owner). I can not locate Hågenstad on maps.
