His parents | Their ancestral child | Her parents |
Lars and Berta were as rooted as trees! They lived and died in Haga Bruksnummer 5, apparently the house where Berta had grown up. The nearest church was Ferkingstad, so this would be my best guess for their family church and burial location. They must have married in the late 1740s. They had seven children between 1750 and 1767, the youngest of whom was our ancestor Erik.
Translations from the farm history:
The two eldest sons, Jens and Hans, lived at Haga, and shared the farm work.
Hans was at Bnr 5 from 1749 – 1772. He got a leasehold from Berta’s father Erik, and bought the house for 90 riksdaler in 1767, just before Erik died.
Hans and Berta are both listed in the censi of 1758, 1762, and 1772. In 1762, Berta’s parents are living with them. In the census of 1772, Hans is listed on the tax register as owing 5 riksdaler.
Only Hans is found in the census of 1801, described as a widower “enjoying a pension”. His son Jens is still living with him.
